Game Jam

Save The Egg is a browser-based video game developed for Insanity Jam #1 under the theme "One Direction." Since I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to participate, I decided to work on my own in case I had to drop out.

This project allowed me to test my skills beyond programming, as I had to create every single asset of the game myself.

Through a fast prototyping process and simple art, I managed to develop a complete game within the jam's time limit.

As a result, Save The Egg was awarded the prize for Best Game of the Jam.

The game is available on itch.io and can be played in a browser on PC.

What I learned?

The main goal while developing Save The Egg was to create a complete videogame within the time limit, minimizing bugs and aiming for a short but enjoyable experience. Here are the key lessons I learned:

  • The importance of having a fast and scalable prototype

  • Effective task management and the ability to adapt when challenges arise

  • Browser development

  • How crucial is to teach players the mechanics and ensure they understand how to play
